Short rundown of all work visas available in South Korea

This post is going to explore the various Visas that are available and the requirements for said visas.

Tourist Visas: Visa Exempted (B-1), Tourist / Transit (General) (B-2-1), Short-Term General (C-3-1)

Most visitors to Korea receive a 90-day tourist visa. This allows you to enter the country, but does not allow you to work legally.  However, some work under the table and go on visa runs every three months. I’ve met people who’ve done this, but you’ll constantly be playing cat and mouse with immigration. If you get caught, you will be fined and/or banned from entering the country for a while.  I DO NOT recommend this route.

However, there is one exception. The H-1 Visa, known as the Working Holiday Program Visa, allows holders to work while being a tourist and is available to Australians, Canadians, New Zealanders, Japanese, French, and Americans.  You can learn more about them here.

If you want to do it legally there are the sponsored and non-sponsored visas known as the E series (I will cover the F series in another post).
