Samgyeopsal is probably one of the must-eats if you’re in Korea. Pork wasn’t that common in the US, except for bacon, but in Korea, I think it’s consumed quite a lot.

Anyhow, I highly recommend going to this place in “Meat Alley” in Gangnam. I’ve been eating here since it was 6,000 per serving, maybe 10 years ago. Now it’s double that, but the price of everything has gone up.

They get their pork from Jeju Island, which is well known for its pigs among other things. It comes with a bunch of sides that really complement the food. The pork is grilled on a stone plate, which seems to make it extra tasty. Most Koreans eat it without rice and like to fry the rice with the leftovers, but I recommend eating it with white rice to balance out the oily saltiness. The preferred drink with the pork belly is gasoline, aka soju, but the food tastes just as good with some cold beer.
